Located at the Agency’s Seneca Office, 23 Center Street in Waterloo, Seneca Programs administers a variety of programs that help customers identify needs and provide them support on their paths to self-sufficiency. While every program is an access point for the other Agency programs as well as programs at other organizations serving Seneca County, the majority of our customers start their journey when they walk through for emergency food. During the process of receiving food, they discover the variety of programs and services in which they can participate to meet critical family and individual needs. A simple step such as asking for food can lead to a comprehensive strategy for developing self-sufficiency for the family.
Car Seat Distribution
This program provides children’s car seats, free of charge, to eligible families. The program also has a certified technician on staff to educate families on proper use and installation of child safety seats.
Emergency Services
Emergency Services works with families and individuals through crisis situations. Emergency Services provides food, advocacy, clothing, shelter, prescription assistance, emergency transportation assistance, and responds to a wide array of crisis situations. Funding for Emergency Services is provided from a wide variety of sources, including Federal Emergency Management Funds, U.S. Department of Agriculture, NYS Department of State Community Services Block Grant, corporate and private donations and area food drives.
Emergency Food Pantry
The Agency’s Seneca Programs food pantry operates Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. The Agency provides emergency food assistance on a monthly basis to individuals and families in Seneca County, and twice monthly to residents of Waterloo, to help alleviate hunger in the community.
Emergency Baby Pantry
The Seneca Programs Emergency Baby Pantry will open Spring 2015 and will provide formula, baby food, diapers, wipes, cream and other baby needs to income-eligible families in Seneca County. The Emergency Baby Pantry will operate with the same accessibility guidelines and hours as the food pantry.
Free Clothing
The agency provides free clothing and small household items to those in need.
Healthy Families Cayuga/Seneca
Healthy Families is a free and voluntary program designed to provide support and information to new and expectant parents. It is comprised of several components including the most up-to-date information on child health and development, parent-child interaction, and supporting and achieving self-sufficiency.
Health Insurance Access
Assistance to individuals and families to identify and obtain affordable health insurance through the New York State of Health Marketplace.
Seneca County Transportation Corp (SCTC)
SCTC uses volunteers to provide residents of Seneca County with rides to medical and dental appointments or to other health-related destinations. SCTC is administered by CSCAA in partnership with STEPS (Seneca Towns Engaging People for Solutions) and funded through the County and Greater Rochester Health Foundation (GRHF). For health-related transportation, residents aged 55 or older should call the RSVP dispatcher at 315-665-0131. Medicaid-eligible citizens should call the Medicaid Answering Service (MAS) at 866-753-4437 and request Cayuga/Seneca Community Action Agency. Other residents of the County should call the dispatcher of the South County Transportation Corps (SCTC) at 607-532-4891.
