Are YOU a Kinship Caregiver?

  • Do you need financial assistance?
  • Do you know your rights?
  • Are you worried about how to care for a child?
  • Are you looking for respite?

Kinship Care refers to the formal or informal care of children by relatives or close family friends (fictive kin) on a temporary or permanent basis. Kin become full time caregivers when parents cannot provide care. The causes are diverse, including parents who are incarcerated, mentally ill, have abandoned their children, are deceased, or who have substance abuse problems, as well as parents who need temporary caregiver help due to military deployment, employment duties or other personal needs.

We can help. Our Services Include:

  • Continual assessment of Kinship families using trauma focused screenings
  • Referral to trauma informed case management services
  • Advocacy to families including court visits
  • Linkage to community resources
  • Outreach to promote community awareness of services available
  • Coordination/collaboration with other service systems to assist families
  • Information and education for strengthening families
  • Crisis intervention services
