Donate to our Kinship Caregiver Program and help individuals raising children other than their own in the community!

Alicyn Salato, a participant in Cayuga/Seneca Community Action Agency’s (CSCAA) Kinship Caregiver Program, embraced the role of parent this past January when she took in her 16 year old niece Beanna. “She came from deplorable conditions,” Ali explains. As a mother of three adult children, caregiver for her elderly father, and critical care nurse who has worked at Auburn Community Hospital for 30 years, Ali knew she had to step up to help.... Brendan McGrath Memorial Fund

Brendan McGrath was deeply committed to giving back to his community. This is clearly evidenced by his 21 years as a volunteer board member for the Agency, 19 of which he served as the board chairperson. Under Brendan’s leadership, the agency experienced the expansion of numerous programs and services. At the time of his accidental death in March of 2010, Brendan’s family requested that donations be made to the agency in his memory. The agency utilized the memorial donations to address key needs faced by the Agency and our customers. In spring of 2011, his wife, Mary, told the agency that she and her children would like to establish a formal mechanism for keeping Brendan’s work alive at the agency. The Brendan McGrath Memorial Fund was formed and continues the work that began in 2010, making a difference in the lives of struggling families in Cayuga County. Brendan lived his life by example; he did it modestly and without recognition and fanfare. He was blessed and he paid it forward for people less fortunate through this Agency. To donate to the Brendan McGrath Memorial Fund, use the online payment button above or mail a check to 89 York Street, Suite 1, Auburn NY, ATTN: Brendan McGrath Memorial Fund. Head Start Backpack Program

The Head Start Backpack Program launched in the fall of 2015 and provides children enrolled in our Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Auburn with supplemental food on the weekends. Staff and volunteers including parents pack the bags and distribute them to participating families at the end of the third week of each month, when household resources are often depleted. Visit our webpage to learn more or to make a donation!

Healthy Families Bottoms Up Campaign

A baby goes through thousands of diapers within the first 30 months of life, an estimated expense of $100 per month or $3,000 total per child. Considering that 22% of children under the age of 5 in the United States live in poverty, a percentage that is mirrored locally, this proves to be a trying expense for many low-income families. There are no subsidies or government programs that aid with the purchase of diapers. Diapers cannot be purchased with food stamps or WIC checks. Efforts to stretch a meager supply of diapers result in health risks for our children. According to the National Diaper Bank Network, 34% of mothers admit to cutting back on food or utilities in order to buy diapers. Celebrate the children in your life by contributing to the success of families throughout Cayuga and Seneca Counties. Make a donation today!
